Během chaotických posledních dnů Třetí říše čelily tisíce evropských dobrovolníků, kteří se připojili k jednotkám Waffen-SS, zdrcujícímu osudu. Tito muži, naverbovaní z Francie, Belgie, Norska, Maďarska, Lotyšska a dalších zemí, byli často formováni pod příslibem sjednocené Evropy proti komunismu. Když se však nacistický režim zhroutil, jejich velitelé je opustili a stali se terčem pronásledování jak ze strany Spojenců, tak i vlastních spoluobčanů.

Tito zahraniční bojovníci SS bojovali až do poslední chvíle na frontách v Berlíně, Rakousku či Československu – často bez možnosti ústupu nebo důstojné kapitulace. Odveta po jejich zajetí byla brutální: okamžité popravy, mučení, veřejné lynčování a dlouholeté věznění. Na rozdíl od německých vojáků byli tito dobrovolníci ve svých domovinách považováni za zrádce, což jen zhoršovalo jejich morální i právní postavení.

Tento příběh odhaluje jednu z nejtemnějších a nejvíce opomíjených kapitol konce druhé světové války. Poslední dny evropských dobrovolníků z SS ukazují, jak ideologie, propaganda a fanatismus uvrhly tisíce mladých mužů do tragického osudu, poznamenaného zoufalstvím, násilím a historickým zapomněním.

This New AI AGENT Shocked the Market: Fully Autonomous and Self-Learning

...Přesný počet Židů zajatých s pomocí Stelly není znám, odhady se pohybují od 600 do 3000. Stella byla v komunitě ukrývaných velmi obávaná. Podle Inge Deutschkron, která přežila holokaust, měla pověst člověka, který dokáže odhalit skrývající se Židy a přeběhlíky. V posledních letech války Stellou v židovských komunitách všeobecně opovrhovali a dokonce jí vyhrožovali smrtí.

Nacisté nakonec porušili slib, že ušetří životy Stelliných rodičů, a v únoru 1944 je deportovali do terezínského ghetta, které se nacházelo v protektorátu Čechy a Morava.

Stella prosila své nadřízené, aby její rodiče uchránili, ale marně. Po válce jí však byl slíben čestný árijský status. Její rodiče byli později převezeni do Osvětimi a zavražděni.
V říjnu 1944 se Stella podruhé vdala za Rolfa Isaaksohna, židovského chytače, ale jejich manželství nebylo šťastné a oba si brzy našli milence. V této době již Stella nebyla jako chytačka tak aktivní, protože byla příliš známá a tedy neefektivní. Navíc v Berlíně zůstalo kvůli nacistickým čistkám a horlivosti Goldschlag a dalších, jen málo Židů. V únoru 1945 Stella už byla těhotná, pravděpodobně  se svým kolegou, nacistickým kolaborantem Heino Meislem, a ačkoli očekávala, že uzná otcovství a bude ji i jejich nenarozené dítě podporovat, Meisl místo toho zmizel a nechal Stellu napospas osudu.

V té době už Stella ztratila podporu svých milenců i nacistických nadřízených, kteří byli zaměstnáni postupem Spojenců. V počáteční fázi bitvy o Berlín v dubnu 1945 se Stella začala skrývat. Téhož měsíce se jí v Liebenwalde, vesnici severně od Berlína, narodila dcera Yvonne.
Berlín padl 2. května 1945 do rukou Rusů a druhá světová válka v Evropě skončila o šest dní později. Zatímco v roce 1933 se počet židovských obyvatel Berlína odhadoval na 160 000, na konci války jich ve městě zůstalo jen 1400 až 1700. Přežili, protože byli dostatečně dobře ukryti.

Stellu zatkla místní policie, dítě jí odebrali a to později skončilo u pěstounů.
Po zatčení se Stelle nejprve podařilo policii přesvědčit, že je obětí nacistů. Když však byla dopravena na Židovskou obec v Berlíně za účelem zjištění totožnosti, její krytí bylo prozrazeno. Pro přeživší Židy v Berlíně byla Stella ztělesněním zla. Poté, co ji členové Židovské obce téměř umlátili, vynadali jí a oholili jí hlavu, byla převezena na policejní stanici na Alexanderplatz, kontrolovanou sovětskými orgány. Po výslechu byla předvedena před sovětský tribunál.
Třem soudcům trvalo jen několik minut, než ji odsoudili k deseti letům nucených prací.
Po odpykání trestu se Stella přestěhovala do západního Berlína za svou dcerou, která tam žila v židovské rodině, ale vzhledem k temné minulosti své matky s ní nechtěla mít Yvonne nic společného.
Navíc rok po propuštění ze sovětského vězení byla Stella znovu obviněna - tentokrát západoněmeckými úřady v Berlíně.
Druhý proces proti Stelle začal 20. června 1957 v západním Berlíně a tisk věnoval její válečné činnosti značnou pozornost a nazýval ji „blonďatou čarodějnicí“ a „blonďatým jedem".
Byla obviněna ze spoluúčasti na vraždě neznámého počtu lidí, pravděpodobně několika set. Soudní proces trval čtyři dny a státní zástupce předvolával svědky, kteří Stellu líčili jako bezohlednou kriminálnici. Před soudem jí psychiatr stanovil diagnózu schizofrenní psychopatie.
Stella se snažila vyvolat soucit poukazováním na svůj špatný zdravotní stav a smutek nad ztrátou dítěte. Všechna obvinění odmítla a tvrdila, že je obětí doby. Tvrdila, že soudní proces byl součástí židovského spiknutí proti ní, a že Židé vždy žárlili na její krásu.

Soud uznal, že Stellina spolupráce s nacisty mohla být zpočátku motivována snahou zachránit rodiče před deportací. Odsoudil však rozsah a horlivost jejích aktivit, v nichž pokračovala i po deportaci rodičů. Ačkoli obžaloba požadovala 15 let odnětí svobody, Stella byla odsouzena k 10 letům.
Protože si již deset let odseděla v sovětských věznicích, nemusela se do vězení vrátit.

Po válce Stella konvertovala ke křesťanství, ještě třikrát se provdala a stala se otevřenou antisemitkou. S přibývajícím věkem se její duševní i fyzické schopnosti zhoršovaly a po smrti posledního manžela vedla osamělý  život v odloučení.
Když 26. října 1994 Stella Goldschlag spáchala sebevraždu utopením se v rybníku Moosweiher ve Freiburgu, bylo jí 72 let.

NVIDIA ALCHEMI: AI for Chemistry and Materials Science

...Když francouzský protestantský vůdce Marc Boegner namítl, že děti téměř jistě zemřou, Laval odpověděl: „Ve Francii nesmí zůstat ani jedno židovské dítě!“ Tato rozhodnutí učiněná ve jménu kolaborace zajistila, že Lavalův odkaz bude navždy spojen se zločiny nacistického režimu. Celkem asi 77 000 Židů žijících na území Francie zahynulo v koncentračních a vyhlazovacích táborech - drtivá většina z nich v Osvětimi - nebo zemřelo ve vazbě na francouzském území. Třetinu těchto obětí tvořili francouzští občané.
Lavalova vize se však neomezovala pouze na pragmatiku přežití poraženého národa. Byl hluboce přesvědčen, že vítězství nacistické ideologie nenávratně změní budoucnost Evropy. Německo pro něj nebylo pouhým okupantem, ale nevyhnutelným vítězem v celosvětovém boji proti dvojí hrozbě - bolševismu a úpadku demokracie. Kolaborantská politika, kterou uplatňoval, nebyla v jeho očích aktem zrady, ale zoufalým opatřením, které mělo Francii zajistit místo v novém světovém řádu. Tento osudový omyl ho zaslepil vůči morálním a politickým důsledkům jeho činů a vytvořil tak půdu pro zúčtování, které mělo přijít po válce. Ve Francii bylo v letech 1939-1945 zabito téměř 400 000 civilistů.

Jak se průběh konfliktu začal měnit ve prospěch Spojenců, Lavalova moc slábla. Vylodění Spojenců ve Francouzské severní Africe v listopadu 1942 a postupný rozmach odbojových aktivit ve Francii činily vichistický režim stále neudržitelnějším. Laval nejenže spolupracoval s nacistickým Německem i poté, co obsadilo jižní část Francie, ale také v době kdy se blížila spojenecká vojska po úspěšném vylodění v Normandii 6. června 1944. V zoufalé snaze zachovat svůj slábnoucí vliv zorganizoval Laval poslední pokus o obnovení zdání legitimity. Se svolením svých německých pánů se pokusil odvolat Národní shromáždění - krok, který mnozí považovali za průhlednou snahu udržet si zbytky své moci. Tento plán však ztroskotal v chaosu ústupu a postupu Spojenců. Lavalova spolupráce s nacisty však neskončila ani po osvobození Francie. Spolu s dalšími působil v jakoby exilové vládě na německé půdě, ale tato činnost neměla dlouhého trvání, neboť již bylo jasné, že nacistické Německo válku prohraje.

V posledních měsících války byl Lavalův osud zpečetěn. Při svém úprku před postupujícími armádami hledal útočiště ve Španělsku - v zemi, která stále sympatizovala se zbytky fašistické ideologie. Ani tam však jeho bezpečí netrvalo dlouho. Pod silným mezinárodním tlakem, zejména ze strany orgánů Svobodné Francie vedené Charlesem de Gaullem, bylo Španělsko nuceno Lavala vyhostit. Jeho ústup ukončilo zatčení americkými jednotkami v Rakousku a byl rychle repatriován do Francie, která již nebyla ochotna tolerovat odkaz kolaborace.
Během procesu, který začal 4. října 1945, se Laval, obviněný ze spiknutí proti bezpečnosti státu a spolupráce s nepřítelem, ocitl v izolaci a jeho obhajoba byla znemožňována porotou, která v něm neviděla státníka, ale zrádce. Na obvinění z kolaborace Laval odpověděl: "Urážlivý způsob, jakým jste mě předtím vyslýchali, a demonstrace, které někteří členové poroty předváděli, mi ukazují, že jsem se možná stal obětí justičního zločinu. Nechci být spolupachatelem. Dávám přednost tomu, abych mlčel." Rozsudek smrti byl vynesen v Lavalově nepřítomnosti a jeho právníkům nebylo povoleno obnovení procesu.

Poprava byla stanovena na ráno 15. října 1945 ve věznici, která se nacházela jižně od Paříže ve městě Fresnes. Laval se před vykonáním rozsudku pokusil spáchat sebevraždu užitím jedu z lahvičky zašité v podšívce svého saka. V dopise na rozloučenou vysvětlil, že si nepřeje, aby se francouzští vojáci stali spolupachateli „justičního zločinu“. Jed byl však tak starý, že ztratil účinnost, a tak po opakovaném vypumpování žaludku Laval žil.


Tento čin jen podtrhl hloubku jeho zoufalství. Nevyhnutelné se však nedalo odložit. 15. října 1945 byl dvaašedesátiletý Pierre Laval popraven zastřelením a jeho poslední slova zněla: „Vive la France!“, tedy ‚Ať žije Francie‘.
Jeho tělo bylo nejprve pohřbeno v neoznačeném hrobě, ale v listopadu 1945 bylo uloženo v mauzoleu rodiny Chambrun na pařížském hřbitově Montparnasse.
Lavalovy poslední chvíle byly tragickým završením života, který byl poznamenán kontroverzními rozhodnutími a morálními kompromisy.
